Flyer Development - Type & Grid

Testing out type composition using grids on photoshop.
I experimented with visual flow so it is easier for the
audience to read the information. It leads your eyes
from one information to the other (left to right,
top to bottom). I feel like it might be more effective if
I did some more trials but on indesign.

Content for Flyer

Introduction
Fairtrade provides farmers and workers in developing countries with a fair price (the Fairtrade Price) for their produce, helping protect them from damaging fluctuations in world market prices. They also receive an additional sum of money (the Fairtrade Premium) for investment in social, economic and environmental development in their community, such as educational and medical facilities. Fairtrade Certification standards also prohibit the use of forced and abusive child labour.

Poster Development - Rebecca

Textures

Experimenting with textural background. I tried to use textures that
relate to coffee such as coffee stained paper and tissue. Not sure if these two
patterns are working well at the moment. I quite like the left texture but maybe
I need to play around with the opacity of it as it is clashing with the already textured
coffee cup. Maybe I don't need a texture background at all?

I tried removing the textures that was originally clipped into the coffee
cup. Also lowered the opacity of the background to bring the imagery out.
However I don't think this is working out that well. The cup looks too flat
and empty. I feel that the original textured cup prevented the image
from looking dull, so maybe I might go back to the original image.

Background Colours

Subtle colour changes to see what shade works best. (using colours from
the mood board) I found that light shades of  brown seems to contrast quite
well with the imagery. I also found that a darker background seems to take
away the focal point as my imagery are quite dark to begin with. I tried to play
with a pattern background again, but in the end I feel like it does not need one.
It is quite distracting especially with the text - too hard to read with the pattern
overlaid at the back. I also tried to align the text with the image so they are all
centred but I am not sure which one is working better. Maybe I will have to
get some opinion from Jannyne and others.

Imagery Colours

After discussing with some peers, I decided to go for the centred text in terms
of visual flow (top-bottom). I also tried experimenting with the imagery colours,
taking the colours from fair-trade and changing its contrast and brightness slightly.
I also finally figured out the background colour. - I decided to pick the colour I liked
most (top left image) and then played around with the brightness settings
till I found one that worked quite well in terms of contrast.

Independent Work (Poster Development) - Jannyne

First I researched some imagery on existing coffee infographics for inspiration.

Since the last lesson, we've decided to go with "hand-drawn" style because it's more quirky and inviting.

Then it was just a matter of coloring in and adding text. I was having a bit of an issue with text placement and the visual flow of the whole image.

The end result were these two:
