Poster Development - Rebecca

Refining our original concept. We found
that photo montage did not work as well as we
had wanted it to. It did not suggest a fun atmosphere.

I drew up various coffee cups and workers. Scanning in to photoshop
to crop out. I drew it physically on paper to create a more free
feel to the image. I found that illustrator did not give the same result  as the
lines looked too defined. Using an ink pen allows it to bleed around the page.

Playing around with composition. Not too fussed about colours at
the moment. I wanted every element to fit nicely on the page
before moving on to colour and text.

Experimented with text, colours and texture. I tried clipping
the texture that I made earlier: painted a paper with coffee and then
letting it air-dry to create a scrunch-like effect. I scanned it in
and then clipped it into the cup image to further indicate that
our poster is about coffee.

Also tried a different saying. I feel like this tag line works
better in terms of this concept. It shows that real, good quality
coffee is made by not just the farmers but the people that
gather together to help.

Incorporating shades of green to suggest fair-trade. I
also tried some other texture such as the coffee bean sack
but after asking for feedback I found that it didn't come off
as well as the coffee texture.

Finishing some final touches. I decided to choose a calm blue
to suggest peace, as well fair-trade (logo represented by blue
and green). The text conveys that the coffee
that we consume is made by farmers. I feel like this is
a more positive way to address the issue rather than
telling the audience that you have to go fair-trade. I also
added a little information under the tag line so it can
get people to at least start thinking about fair-trade.

Maybe to make a further connection to coffee, I can actually
include giant coffee beans in the wheelbarrow. I could also play around
with different type, perhaps one that can link to coffee? This is something
 I can think about.
